pCloud Lifetime vs Annual: How Many Years to Break Even
Updated ·RapidQuick editorial team (TUOPIC Co., Ltd.)
The short answer
At RapidQuick's prices, lifetime becomes cheaper than annual after about 4 years 5 months for 500GB, about 5 years for 2TB, and about 7 years 6 months for 10TB.
If you plan to use pCloud for less time than that, annual is better. If you plan to keep the same storage for a long time, lifetime wins.

Price comparison
These are the pCloud plans and prices at RapidQuick (tax included, as of October 2026).
| Storage | Plan | Annual | Lifetime | Break-even |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500GB | Premium | ¥7,998 (about $51) | ¥35,040 (about $222) | About 4 years 5 months |
| 2TB | Premium Plus | ¥15,998 (about $101) | ¥79,840 (about $505) | About 5 years |
| 10TB | Ultra | ¥31,998 (about $203) | ¥239,840 (about $1,518) | About 7 years 6 months |
"Break-even" is the lifetime price divided by the annual price. For 2TB, ¥79,840 ÷ ¥15,998 ≈ 4.99 years. So partway through the fifth year, the total of annual payments passes the lifetime price.
Who should pick annual
- You expect to use it for about 2 to 3 years
- You may want more or less storage later
- You don't want to pay a large amount at once
The advantage of annual is that you can review it every year. If you're unsure, use annual for the first year to see how you like it, then switch to lifetime once you decide to stay.
Who should pick lifetime
- You want the same storage for photos and documents for the long term
- You don't want another subscription
- For 2TB, you plan to use it for 5 years or more
With lifetime, you pay once and there are no yearly payments. pCloud is run by a Swiss company (pCloud International AG), and its lifetime plans are popular in Japan too.
Things to check before you choose
Storage is hard to change later: A lifetime plan is fixed at the size you buy. If you think you might run out, choosing one size up from the start can end up cheaper.
Compare with official sales: pCloud sometimes runs limited-time sales on its official site, and at those times the official site can be cheaper. RapidQuick offers payment in Japanese yen and support in Japanese.
Using it as a family: pCloud also has family plans, but RapidQuick currently sells only the individual 500GB, 2TB and 10TB plans.
